Brennan Marion goes deep.Tulsa Golden Hurricanes continued to shock and awe opposing defenses, this week unleashing a 77-35 assault of UTEP in Conference USA play.

Tulsa World quoted head coach Todd Graham, “I’ll be very surprised if we’re not (in the Top 25 polls),” Graham said. “I think we’re very well-deserving. We’re 7-0, and we’ve dominated six of the seven times we’ve been out and played. We have the No. 1 offense in the nation…”

He got his wish as this week’s AP poll put Tulsa at #22 in the nation, and the Athletic Directors Coaches Polls at #19.

Tulsa QB David Johnson threw for five touchdowns and 434 yards, but the fantasy star was Mr. Deep Ball WR Brennan Marion (right, Icon SMI) – six catches, 233 yards and three TD including a 97 yarder.

Next up for Tulsa – the University of Central Florida.

DeAndre Brown (15) catches a touchdown pass in The US Army All-American BowlOrlando sentinel reports (scroll past the bellyaching George O’Leary – ironic he criticizes truth in reporting) from Conference USA Media Day that all-everything freshman WR DeAndre Brown made it through the NCAA Clearinghouse and can begin practices with the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles. This news truly upgrades the entire offense under new Head Coach Larry Fedora, know for running the “FengShui offense” known for its run/pass balance.

As the WR analyst, I expect Brown to move way up on the revised cheatsheet coming out soon – the main reason for his not being on the Top 55 earlier was the academic concerns. If your draft is proceeding on a message board near you, move Brown into the Top 30 since he is easily the most gifted athletically of the Eagle wideouts.

I think it is also fair to upgrade TE Shawn Nelson also since he now has another threat to occupy a safety. I am particularly excited about the TE class this year, a great mix of the classical big TE (Gresham, Pettigrew) along with lots of “ultra-big WRs” at the position (Gronkowski, Coffman, Nelson, Hill).

If there is a more dominant trend in fantasy college football, please tell me – Todd Graham coached teams put up huge stats. He did it at lowly Rice, then led the nation in yards per game last year with Tulsa.

Tulsa four-year starter QB Paul Smith has graduated, so the battle between senior David Johnson, Jacob Bower and Clark Harrell will demand our attention.

Also, CBS Sportsline reports that RB Courtney Tennial (the former Oklahoma Sooner who transfered to Tulsa in 2005 to have a big year) applied for and was granted a sixth-year of eligibility . I would expect a healthy Tennial to be a top 15 running back on our cheatsheets.

But as the date shows, it is May so we will continue to monitor. Stay tuned for my "Dynasties" study that highlights the best offensive college football programs of the past three years.
